Your full-day horseback riding adventure begins with a convenient pickup from your hotel in Cusco at 9:00 AM. A private vehicle will transport you to the horse ranch near Sacsayhuaman, where you’ll meet your horses and experienced rangers.
Once ready, we’ll embark on a picturesque horseback ride through the stunning landscapes surrounding Sacsayhuaman. Our first stop is the archaeological site of Q’enqo, a sacred Inca worship center. Here, you’ll receive a concise explanation of its history and significance, and have the opportunity to photograph the immense eucalyptus forest nearby.
Next, we’ll ride to Pukapukara, the ‘Red Fortress.’ You’ll have time to explore this fascinating site on horseback and on foot, taking in the beautiful scenery and capturing memorable photos.
Continuing our journey, we’ll visit Tambomachay, the ‘Water Temple,’ located very close to Pukapukara. Admire the harmonious blend of intricate stone walls and natural water sources, believed to be sacred during the Inca period. Our guide will provide insightful explanations as we pass through this captivating location.
We then proceed to Kusilluchayoq, also known as the ‘Temple of the Monkeys.’ We’ll explore its three main sectors: the Zoomorphic Sculptures, the Water Mirror (featuring carved rocks, water channels, and a font), and the Enclosures, which house a monolith or sacrifice bench.
Our final destination is the majestic Temple of the Moon, often called the fertility temple. This incredible open-air site offers a perfect setting to connect with nature and relax. After riding around the main temple and its surroundings, you’ll discover several smaller, hidden temples.
