Day 01: Sacred Valley Exploration & Train to Aguas Calientes

Sacred Valley Exploration

1

Your incredible journey begins with a 7:00 a.m. pickup from your Cusco hotel. We’ll venture into the stunning Sacred Valley of the Incas, making our first stop in the picturesque town of Chinchero. Here, you’ll admire a colonial-era church renowned for its intricate mural paintings and the ancient Inca structures surrounding it. Next, we visit Moray, a unique Inca site featuring a series of circular agricultural terraces, once used as an experimental farming laboratory. Afterward, we’ll explore the impressive Salt Mines (Salineras) of Maras, home to approximately 4,000 natural salt pans.

Around midday, we’ll arrive in Urubamba for lunch. Our exploration continues to the magnificent Inca site of Ollantaytambo, famous for its imposing walls and numerous stone steps. We’ll explore Ollantaytambo until 3:00 p.m., then head to the train station to board our train to Aguas Calientes. While luxury options like the Hiram Bingham or Vistadome Trains are available, they are quite expensive. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, our staff will greet you and transfer you to your hotel, where you’ll have dinner and rest for your unforgettable visit to Machu Picchu the following day.
