Frequently Asked Questions
01 What is the best time of year to take this tour?
The dry season, from April to October, is generally considered the best time for trekking and outdoor activities in the Andes, offering sunnier days and less rain. However, this is also peak tourist season. The shoulder months (April, May, September, October) can offer good weather with fewer crowds and might be ideal for this diverse adventure.
02 How much luggage can I bring on the trek, and what about storage for my main luggage?
During the trekking portion of the tour (Days 6-8), you will typically carry a small daypack with your daily essentials. Your main luggage can be safely stored at your hotel in Cusco and picked up after the trek. Specific weight limits for the gear carried by mules/porters on the trek will be provided by your guide.
03 Is travel insurance mandatory for this trip?
While not strictly mandatory for booking, comprehensive travel insurance is highly recommended. It should cover medical emergencies, trip cancellation or interruption, lost luggage, and emergency evacuation, especially given the adventure activities and high altitudes involved in this journey.
04 What is the policy regarding children on this adventure tour?
This tour involves challenging activities such as high-altitude trekking, white-water rafting, and mountain biking. It is generally recommended for participants 12 years and older who are in excellent physical condition. Please consult directly with the operator regarding age restrictions and suitability for children, as a private tour might offer more flexibility for families.
05 What kind of electrical outlets are used in Peru, and should I bring an adapter?
Peru primarily uses Type A, B, and C outlets, with a standard voltage of 220V and a frequency of 60Hz. It is highly advisable to bring a universal travel adapter and potentially a voltage converter if your electronic devices are not dual voltage to ensure compatibility and safe charging.
