Itinerary

Day 1: Journey to the Heart of Manu

Nincamarca and Paucartambo

Your adventure begins early, we’ll depart from Cusco at 4:00 am. On our drive, we’ll stop at Nincamarca to visit ancient tombs. Paucartambo is our next destination. We’ll take a look at the town layout, which remains from colonial times. Also its church is a notable sighting. After a while, we’ll arrive at Tres Cruces. Here you want to catch the sunrise. The views of the sunrise here are amazing no matter what. But to witness the 3 crosses of the sun, you need luck and a clear sky. We’ll then descend into the Manu Cloud Forest. Here, we’ll spend two hours exploring the area. If you are lucky, you’ll encounter the Cock of the Rock. By reaching Pilcopata, our drive is almost over. Our day ends at the Amazon Jungle Lodge.

Day 2: Exploring Alto Madre de Dios

After breakfast we’ll start a hour and a half drive to Atalaya Pier. On the way we’ll make a stop in a viewpoint to appreciate the Manu Rainforest. We’ll go on a short boat ride at the Alto Madre de Dios River.

This day you will have the chance to enjoy the Manu Hot Springs. We’ll return to our lodge for a typical lunch.

You’ll have free time before a night tour around the lodge.

Day 3: Macaw Clay Licks and Casa Matsiguenka

Visit to the famous macaw clay licks

Our early start of the day will be due to our visit to the famous Macaw Clay Licks. After this wonderful spectacle, we’ll return to our lodge for breakfast.

Next you’ll go on a boat ride on the Manu River. Here you may see black caimans and turtles basking on top of the water.

We’ll pass a control point at the Limonal Station (as part of every Manu Reserved Zone Tours). We’ll arrive at Casa Matsiguenka Lodge.

The afternoon includes a visit to the Oxbow Lakes, with a possible sighting of Giant River Otters. We’ll return to the Casa Matsiguenka Lodge. You can opt for a night tour through the jungle.

Day 4: Deep Dive into Manu’s Biosphere Reserve

Exploring the virgin rainforest of the Manu Reserve

We’ll have a breakfast prepared with native ingredients. After which we’ll explore the pristine forest of the Manu Biosphere Reserve. This will be the most complete exploration of flora and fauna in our Manu Peru Tour.

For lunch, we’ll have a picnic-like lunch in the forest. Post-lunch, we’ll have the Catamaran trip to observe the Oxbow Lakes in the lowland rainforest.

Spend another night at Casa Matsigenka at the end of the day.

Day 5: Cultural Interaction and Evening Fun

We will visit the Diamante indigenous community

After breakfast we’ll leave Casa Matsiguenka. A boat ride will take us to Boca Manu. Before reaching Boca Manu, we’ll then visit the Diamante Native Community. You’ll be able to engage with locals and their culture.

We’ll be staying in Dorado Lodge, here we’ll have lunch. You’ll explore around this lodge.

In the evening, we’ll have a bonfire barbecue. Enjoy some meat and beverages as well as the social interaction.

Day 6: Return to Cusco

Our final day begins after breakfast. A boat ride will take us back to Atalaya Port.

From there, a bus will pick us up. This is how our Cusco Manu journey comes to an end. The drive back to Cusco will be long.

Our Cusco arrival will be around 7–8 pm. This depends on the climate conditions during the drive back home and the transit.
