01 What should I wear and bring for the Humantay Lake hike?
We recommend wearing layers, including warm clothing, a waterproof jacket, and sturdy hiking boots. Don’t forget a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle. A small backpack for personal items like snacks and any necessary medication is also advisable.
02 Are there restrooms available during the journey?
Restroom facilities will be available at key stops, such as Mollepata and Soraypampa, before and after the main hike. Please note that facilities directly at Humantay Lake are basic or non-existent, so plan accordingly.
03 Is the Humantay Lake trek suitable for children or seniors?
While many people of various ages complete this trek, it is considered moderate due to the altitude and uphill sections. We recommend it for children who are accustomed to hiking and for seniors who are in good physical condition and have acclimatized properly to the altitude in Cusco. Consult your doctor if you have any health concerns.
04 What if I have difficulty with the hike? Can I rent a horse?
Yes, horses are generally available for rent from local residents at the starting point of the hike in Soraypampa, although this service is not included in the tour price. Your guide can assist you in arranging a horse if needed, but please be aware of the additional cost.
05 What is the best time of year to visit Humantay Lake?
The dry season, from May to October, is generally considered the best time to visit Humantay Lake due to more stable weather conditions and clearer skies, offering the most spectacular views. However, tours operate year-round, with the rainy season (November to April) offering lush landscapes but potential for more unpredictable weather and cloudier views.
