Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1International Arrival in Lima

Assistance at your arrival to Lima International airport and transfer to your hotel, there you will receive a briefing on your tour and vouchers covering all the services included in your tour and additional information on the organization of your Peru trip. Overnight at Lima Hotel

Day 2Lima Sightseeing Tour

Morning free to relax; we recommend you to take a long rest and be prepared to begin with this unforgettable journey through our wonderful country. Lunch on your own.
Pick up from the Hotel at 1:00pm, guided sightseeing tour to the most attractive and important sites in Lima, the “City of Kings”. This excursion offers the best combination of the different attractions in Lima and its three historical periods: pre-Hispanic, colonial and contemporary. In Lima, there were several different pre-Columbian cultures which are dated thousands of years back. Lima was part of the Inca Empire until was founded by the Spaniard Francisco Pizarro on the 18th of January, 1535. Overnight at Lima Hotel

Day 3Flight to Puerto Maldonado / Tambopata Lodge

Breakfast at the Hotel; Tambopata Parrot Clay Lick & Tres Chimbadas Oxbow Lake 3 Day /2 Night trip, pick up from the Hotel and transfer to the Lima airport to your flight to Puerto Maldonado, upon arrival reception, assistance and transfer to the hotel to our office in Puerto Maldonado where the formalities of registration will take place, then drive along a dirt road to reach the Port of Native Community of Infierno where we board the boat along the Tambopata River to reach our lodge located on the banks of the Tambopata River inside the buffer zone of the Tambopata Candamo and the Bahuaja Sonene National Park. We appreciate cañabravales, cecropias, ficus, as well as the fauna such as birds which live close to the rivers. We may see weaving birds with their nests high up in the trees, and garzas along with a number of different other types of birds which may cross our path in flight such as macaws, parrots and tucans. In the afternoon the guide will lead you on a walk to observe the flora and fauna in the vicinity of the lodge. Return to the lodge for a delicious traditional Dinner, overnight at the Lodge.

Day 4Colpa La Torre / Native Community Farm / Tres Chimbadas Oxbow Lake

Breakfast at the lodge; early morning we take the boat to observe the activity of the birds (psitácidos, macaws, parrots and parraquits) at the nearby clay lick where we occasionally we get the chance to see deer, capybara and squirrels as well. The “La Torre” clay lick is similar to the rest of the salt licks along the Tambopata River, comprising of an embankment on the side of the river with a height of 4mts and a length of 20mts. At the site we find a hide-out or observation look-out situated approximately 30mts from the clay wall which allows us an excellent observation point from which to view the activity.
Then we visit Native Community Farm; this region local people practice traditional methods of farming. You will have the opportunity to learn about farming directly from a local farmer and will get an introduction to the various exotic fruits of the Amazon such as copazú, arazá, pijuayo, and yuca, as well as species such as, el pajillo y sacha cilantro. Also found on the farm are various medicinal plants like el piñón, caña caña, piri piri, all of which are commonly used by people in the communities. Return to the lodge to enjoy lunch before travelling downriver for 15 minutes to start a 45 minute walk to reach the Tres Chimbadas Lake. On the lake we will board a traditional catamarán which functions with oars. Various birds such as the shanshos, pato aguja, garzas, martín pescador, some reptiles and mammals make use of the lake. Also importantly the lake is home to a family of Giant River Otters which means we frequently get the chance to observe them. Giant river otters are an endangered species and many people come to this region of the rainforest in order to catch a glimpse of them in their natural environment. There will also be a demonstration of the traditional fishing methods during which you may get the chance to see the famous Piraña fish. In the afternoon back our lodge. Overnight at the Lodge

Day 5Departure to Cusco from the Jungle

Breakfast at the lodge; we return to our office in Puerto Maldonado before leaving for the airport, where your guide will help you with the requirements for your flight to Cusco.
Upon arrival reception, assistance and transfer to the hotel, free day to get acclimatized.

Day 6Cusco Sightseeing Tour

Breakfast at the hotel; free morning to get acclimatized
At 1:30pm pick up from the Hotel; guided sightseeing tour in Cusco like Koricancha temple of Sun the most important shrines during the Incas time. Visit the Cathedral the most imposing church at the main square. The tour keeps going to Sacsayhuaman, this site is a megalithic work made by the Incas; it stands on a hill looming over the city to the north-yet even these enormous stones are filled with that extraordinary Inca perfection. The next sightseeing is named Qenqo, it shows a singular limestone outcrop, which was used to religious cult. The tour finishes visiting Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. Overnight at Cusco Hotel

Day 7Cusco / Sacred Valley of the Incas

Breakfast at the hotel; this tour is a full day visit to the impressive Sacred Valley of the Incas, covering the visit Pisaq and Ollantaytambo archaeological sites. The first visit at the village of Qorao where is possible to take beautiful pictures of the landscapes from a lookout site. The next visiting is Pisaq (archaeological site and Indian market). Lunch at Sacred Valley, after lunch, visit the Inca Fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo, built to guard the entrance to this part of the Valley, and protect it from possible invasion from the tribes in the Lower jungle. The Fortress consists of a series of stepped carved stone terraces accessed by long staircases. Stop in Ollantaytambo where we spend the night. Overnight at Ollantaytambo Hotel

Day 8Machu Picchu / Back to Cusco

Breakfast at the hotel; full day Excursion to Machu Picchu, early transfer to the nearby train station to Ollantaytambo for the train journey to the mysterious lost city of Machu Picchu, upon arrival transfer to the Bus Stop for the short ride (25 minutes) up to the citadel of Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, you will participate in a guided tour of the Citadel, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial (the most important preserved Intiwatana), the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, houses, warehouses, a large central square; and all connected by narrow roads and steps that are surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side. After the tour you’ll have time to stroll around the Archaeological Site at your leisure.
Opportunity to walk (approx 1 hour) up to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) or climb to the top of Wayna Picchu, with a magnificent view of the whole Sanctuary, return in the afternoon by train to Cusco and transfer to your hotel. Overnight at Cusco Hotel

Day 9Bus to Puno

Breakfast at the hotel; transfer to the bus station to head off to Puno. Beautiful scenery all along the way, visit of the Raqchi and archeological sites as well as Andahuaylillas village and its famous “Sixteen Chapel” that was built in the middle of the 17th century lunch in Sicuani. Overnight at Puno Hotel

Day 10Lake Titicaca / Uros Floating Island and Overnight in Amantani

Breakfast at the hotel; Lake Titicaca 2 Day/1 night pick up from the Hotel take a two-hour motor boat excursion on the waters of Lake Titicaca to the unique Floating “Islands” of the Uros. These ancient inhabitants of the lake, known as the Water Tribe, have built their own “islands” by periodically adding new layers of a type of reed unique to the area called “Totora”. Their homes and boats are also made from this material. Continue the motor boat trip to Amantani Island. This island is inhabited by Quechua-speaking natives still governed by their ancient traditions, whose main occupations are the production of ceramics and textiles. Day 11Lake Titicaca / Taquile Island

Breakfast at the familiar house; you have time to stroll at leisure through the quaint streets of this colourful island. Late morning, take a motor-boat to Taquile Island, also inhabited by Quechua-speaking natives who have developed efficient and unique social systems, as well as fine hand weaving techniques, down through the generations. It is necessary to go up a stairway of more than 567 steps – streaks of stone that wind their way among greenery platforms – to arrive at the town of Taquile. Lunch at Taquile, and then take a walk through the various hills and archaeological sites of this 6km long island in the afternoon back to Puno. Overnight at Puno Hotel

Day 12Depart Cusco / Lima International departure

Breakfast at the hotel; transfer to the airport for departure flight to Lima and then take your connecting flight at home.
