  • HUAYNAPICCHUHuaynapicchu is the mountain that stands next to Machu Picchu and has beautiful views from the top of Machu Picchu from above. It takes 45 minutes to get to the top and then 45 minutes back down and is quite steep for those scared of heights. This is done after your tour of Machu Picchu and is $25 per person to hike. This is extremely popular and needs to be arranged at least a month or two prior to your trek. Since you are hiking the Inca Trail, you will experience a similar view from the Sun Gate – but slightly less dramatic. Please understand that we can’t control weather and cloudy days will prevent perfect pictures aventuras inca trail best.
  • FLIGHTSFlying to Cusco can be a little tricky. Delays happen often and it is not uncommon for flights to be cancelled for no reason. Please make sure you arrive in the city at least 2 days before your trek start date. LAN Peru is the most reliable of the airlines that fly between Lima and Cusco with many time options, but Avianca and Peruvian Airlines are good companies as well. You will not be back from your trek until around 8PM on day 2, so make sure your flight is not until the next day when leaving Cusco aventuras inca trail best.
  • GRATUITIESWe go out of our way to make sure our team is well taken care of with a proper salary, but tipping is always appreciated. This should be based completely on your satisfaction. • TRAVEL INSURANCEThis is not required, but always a good idea. For those of you used to living at sea-level, landing in Cusco will be a little different. Most people need 1 – 2 days to adjust, but in case you can’t get used to the altitude, having some protection for missed tours, which will all be due in full, is a very good idea aventuras inca trail best.
Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Maras – Moray – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

We will meet you at your hotel at 8.00 am for pick you and then drive towards the Sacred Valley of the Inkas. It will take about 45 minutes to get to our first stop which will be Chincheros. Chincheros is a small inka living town where you will explore the inka site of chincheros with her many farming terraces which the Inkas used to farm potatoes. From here you will head to the famous roman catholic church which has amazing paintings from the 16th century, with amazing colors. Once you have left the Church you will visit the famous hand made craft center where you will see the ladies working in the traditional style demonstrate how they weave together beautiful alpaca sweaters. We will then drive to Moray inka site which is the largest inka agricultural experimentation center with the most famous farming terraces for the inkas to study soil and weather effects on crops. A close drive from Moray is Maras, beautiful salt mines carved into the mountain. There are more than 3000 small salt pools, each individually owned by a family in Maras. These salt pools have been used and cultivated the same way since the incas and are the main source of salt for all the Cusco region. We will stop for a nice lunch in Urubamba before heading to the last attraction of the day, Ollantaytambo fortress. Ollantaytambo, known as the living inka city, was a very importation village during inca times and includes some beautiful attractions, including the Temple of the Sun. This building was built with massive stones brought for over 4km away. We will enjoy some dinner in Ollantaytambo before heading on the 7PM train to Aguas Calientes. It will take 2 hours to Aguas Calientes and once you arrive, we will make sure you get to your hotel safely and bed early for a good night sleep aventuras inca trail best.
