The Humantay Lagoon is a very popular trek in the Cusco region, which will take you through amazing local villages, passing through Mollepata and following a hike of approximately 1.5 hours until you reach your destination.

The Humantay Lagoon located at 5473 m/17956.04 ft, stands out for its incredible blue and green colours and does not go unnoticed by nature lovers. It is adorned by the incredible snow-capped mountain of Salkantay located at 6,271 m/20569ft.

On this short hike you will discover the incredible landscapes that make up this impressive route. First departing from Cusco you will reach the villages of Limatambo and Mollepata and finally Soraypampa. Then you will continue your hike until you reach the lagoon.

It is advisable to acclimatise for a few days in the city of Cusco to avoid altitude sickness or any other inconvenience, so that you can better enjoy this incredible trek.

Itinerary

Full DayCusco - Mollepata - Humantay Lake

To start our tour of the Humantay Lagoon, early in the morning at 4:30 am we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco in our private vehicle. We will head towards our first stop, crossing the Andes road, Soraypampa where we will have our breakfast.

After breakfast we will continue our journey to the next point in Soraypampa where you will be able to observe the incredible landscape surrounded by mountains. From this point we will start our hike to the Humantay Lagoon.

This hike has a length of approximately 2 km, which will take us 1.5 to 2 hours to reach our destination. On the way you will be able to enjoy incredible landscapes, Andean farms, alpacas and llamas grazing.

Once we arrive at our destination, you will have time to explore and enjoy the incredible view and the impressive colours of the lagoon. In addition, you will be able to observe the different altars that tourists build out of rocks called “Apachetas”.

Finally, we will return to Soraypampa and then to the village of Mollepata where we will have a delicious lunch and then depart to Cusco, arriving around 6:30 pm.
