Machu Picchu Tours One Day - Machu Picchu Day Trip

Your epic Machu Picchu Day Trip from Cusco begins with an early morning transfer from your hotel in Cusco between 0315 and 0330. We will be embarking on a two and half hour’s drive through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to Ollantaytambo (2792m / 9160ft.)

You will be boarding the tourist train operated by Peru Rail or Inca Rail to Aguas Calientes.

The two hours train ride offers captivating views of the Peruvian highland region. The views will change from snowcapped Andean peaks to lush tropical cloud forests as you will near the town of Aguas Calientes.

Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes, our representative will meet you and will take you to the bus terminal. You will be boarding the tourist bus for a short 25-minute drive up the hill to Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu Tour One Day

 

Our tour guide will help you in passing through the security checkpoint where your passport will be verified against your Machu Picchu entrance ticket. As you enter the citadel, you will witness the golden rays of the rising sun beaming on the walls of the Inca citadel.

Our tour begins with a brief introduction to the Inca civilization and what Machu Picchu meant for them. On this two hours guided tour, you will be visiting all the strategic areas of Machu Picchu including the main square, remains of the royal quarters and ceremonial sites, and more.

After the guided tour, you will have some free time to soak in the views and immerse yourself in the energy of the citadel.

If you have booked to climb Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machu Picchu mountain, our guide will be directing you to the respective trailhead.

Alternatively, you can hike to the sun gate. This is the entrance for those hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. You won’t need any permit to visit the Sungate and it’s free of cost. You will be getting a panoramic view of the citadel from here.

Please note that the sun gate is closed in February, during the rainy season.

Once you have had your fill of this marvel, you will be taking a bus back down to Aguas Calientes town. You will have some free time to explore the town or have lunch before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo.

Our representative will be meeting you at the train station and will drive you back to Cusco city. You will be reaching by 10:00 PM.
