Tour Information
Lake Sandoval

Our Lake Sandoval Peru Tour itinerary is made to provide you a quick overview of the Peruvian Amazon’s breathtaking magnificence. Lago Sandoval, as it is known locally, is a must-see location in Tambopata National Reserve.

There is a lot of biodiversity in Lake Sandoval. The waters of Lake Sandoval are tranquil and clean, in contrast to the Madre de Dios River. This makes it the perfect place for a lot of creatures to live. Here, you can see a variety of birds, butterflies, black caimans, the hoatzin family, and huge otters.

There is more to the two-day excursion than simply taking in the peace and quiet of the stunning surroundings of Lake Sandoval. There will also be a zip line and canopy walk for you to enjoy.

You can also leave your belongings securely at our office while you are on tour. Once all set, we will transfer you to the boat pier. You will be taking a boat on Madre de Dios river for an hour to the eco lodge.

The hotel staff will extend a warm welcome to you with a local beverage as a welcome drink. After checking in , we will serve lunch. This will be a typical Amazonian meal.

We will then begin the Lake Sandoval Peru Tour by embarking on a boat ride to Monkey island. Here you will be able to witness a variety of monkeys. These include, Spider monkey, squirrel monkey, capuchin and more.

After this, we will do a canopy walk. It offers a breathtaking view of Tambopata National Reserve from tree top. Once you have had your fill of this, we will return to the lodge for dinner.

After dinner, we will do a short night walk to spot caimans and alligators.

Day 2Tambopata - Lake Sandoval - Puerto Maldonado

At day break, we will be going to see the parakeets and Parrots clay lick. Here, they ingest a typical clay rich in mineral salts which is essential to metabolise and neutralise the toxins they might have consumed from fruits and seeds.

Our local expert will be sharing more information about this. Once you have had your fill of the parrot’s clay lick, we will be returning to the lodge for breakfast.

After breakfast, we will be hiking for three kilometres crossing Madre de Dios river to Lake Sandoval. Here you will witness the rich biodiversity. You will see many animals and birds. We will then travel by boat further to get a closer look at these animals.

We will then stop for lunch in the reserve zone. After lunch, we will return to the lodge.
