Immerse yourself in a unique high‑mountain experience with our two‑day trek to the Quelccaya glacier, the largest in the tropical belt of the planet. You will walk along high‑altitude trails, sleep surrounded by snow‑capped peaks, and wake up in front of imposing ice walls. All of this is accompanied by a local expert team, making this short but intense getaway an unforgettable memory.
Discover the majesty of Quelccaya, a colossal ice mass that rises to about 18,045 ft (5,500 m). The adventure starts very early: we pick you up at your hotel in Cusco at 5:00 a.m. and head to the picturesque village of Pitumarca (11,715 ft / 3,570 m), where a hearty Andean breakfast awaits you. Take the chance to buy any extra supplies if needed.
We continue toward the spectacular Sivinaccocha Lake (15,090 ft / 4,600 m). Its crystal‑clear waters, embraced by imposing mountains, seem to come from a dream. After soaking in the views, we head to the campsite in Quehuar (15,915 ft / 4,850 m).
Night falls over the Andes: hot dinner, then into the tent. Silence and a blanket of stars will be your rest companions.
