Special Cusco & Machu Picchu Tour – 3 Days

Upon your arrival in Cusco, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a free morning to acclimatize to the altitude. At 1:30 PM, your guide will pick you up from the hotel for a comprehensive city sightseeing tour. You’ll visit Koricancha, the Temple of the Sun, considered the most important shrine during the Inca era. Next, explore the impressive Cusco Cathedral in the main square. The tour continues to Sacsayhuaman, a magnificent megalithic Inca fortress overlooking the city, renowned for its extraordinary perfection in stonework. You’ll then visit Qenqo, a singular limestone outcrop used for religious rituals, before concluding the tour with visits to Puca Pucara and Tambomachay.

After breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred early to the nearby train station in Poroy for a scenic train journey to the mysterious Lost City of Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, a transfer will take you by bus for a short 25-minute ride up to the citadel of Machu Picchu. Here, you’ll embark on a guided tour of the magnificent citadel, visiting key areas such as the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial (the most important preserved Intiwatana), the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, various houses, warehouses, and the large central square, all connected by narrow roads and steps surrounded by agricultural terraces. After the guided tour, you’ll have free time to explore the archaeological site at your leisure. You’ll have the opportunity to walk (approximately 1 hour) up to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) or climb to the summit of Wayna Picchu (Waynapicchu permit not included, must be booked in advance), which offers a magnificent panoramic view of the entire sanctuary. In the afternoon, you’ll return by train to Cusco and be transferred back to your hotel.

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. At the appropriate time, you will be transferred to the Cusco airport for your departure flight to Lima or your next destination.
